FIELD TECHNICIAN

With the support of the Field Supervisor, Senior Technicians and the Project Managers alike, this role is ideally suited to someone seeking to expand their knowledge and exposure to the clean water network.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a broad spectrum of field based activities such as trunk and distribution main isolations, asset investigation and validation, operability testing, reservoir outages and mains commissioning, and all associated water quality activities such as flushing and sampling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This is a varied field based water network field technician role primarily based in and around the M25, however work in the Thames Valley region will be required at times
  • As an experienced technician you will be able to undergo you duties as the first-person in a team, troubleshooting with your team to achieve a safe, first time result
  • Working with contractors to undertake both planned and unplanned work – investigating clean water networks to resolve poor performance including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries, and loss of supply.
  • You will be required to undertaken day to day activities across a multitude of our clean water services primarily focused on trunk main isolation, operability checks, asset verification, logger deployment and all associated water quality activities, such as flushing and sampling.
  • You will carry out flow and pressure tests and utilize your experience in optimisation techniques to spot anomalies, find resolutions and ensure a safe result.
  • Experience in operating clean water assets (valve/hydrants etc), working on trunk and distribution mains.
  • You will be required to use GIS plans and other reference documents to undertake onsite point of work risk assessment and comprehensive site report and submit these in a client-ready state to the Project team using a smart device
  • You will support and report to the office-based project teams in finding solutions to issues as and when they arise, reporting and escalating where necessary, preparing vehicles, equipment and stock for upcoming work.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years practical, clean water industry field experience
  • First-person lead on trunk main isolations on large diameter mains
  • Ideal experience include: District metered area validation, zonal pressure tests and experience with valve shuts offs and step testing. Trunk and distribution main isolations, asset verification, Probe installations and experience with mains disinfection.
  • EUSR clean water hygiene, Valve Operations and NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding Streetworks qualified
  • IT proficient including Office365, GIS mapping tools, PDA/Tablet use and online reporting software.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.

COMMISSIONING SPECIALIST

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced field-based Commissioning Engineer to deliver the growth and ongoing success of our end-to-end commissioning service. The lead Commissioning Engineer is integral to the onsite operations of the service and will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of clean water mains back into supply.

Working with the Field Specialist, the Commissioning Specialist will manage onsite operations at all stages of the commissioning process and will be the central point of contact for all stakeholders during the delivery of this service.

The role will involve the commissioning of newly constructed, upgraded and repaired pipework across all clean water infrastructure. Primarily working on large diameter trunk mains on the strategic network, but including those assets associated with treatment plants, pumping stations, and reservoirs.

Critical responsibilities include: pre-site safety surveys, construct and brief RAMS, resource and kit planning, pressure testing, swabbing, chemical dosing, chlorination and dechlorination, mains flushing and water quality sampling.

Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be flexible and reactive at short notice for field support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure complete and unwavering compliance with Company, client and industry HSE regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Carry out all tasks required to undertake specialist pressure testing, chlorination, dechlorination and the commissioning of water assets when required.
  • Responsible for detailed pre, post and live site surveys, inspections and monitoring including supporting RAMS preparation, approval and onsite briefings, enabling the safe and compliant delivery of this service.
  • Liaise directly with all stakeholders including management, desktop and onsite team, third party contractors, suppliers and client representatives to ensure the highest standard of communication between all parties.
  • Closely monitor the performance of water treatment system, analysing key parameters such as flow rates, pressure, turbidity, chlorine levels, pH balance and all other relevant indicators to verify compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying root causes of issues that may arise during the commissioning process and troubleshoot to resolve, repair or make adjustments as required in liaison with all stakeholders.
  • Beyond troubleshooting, identify issues that require action and escalation to ensure zero impact to water quality, end users and the network.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all activities including survey and audit reports, photo evidence and tests and adjustments throughout the commissioning process.
  • Ongoing kit management and maintenance including regulatory pressure testing and disinfection inspections, maintenance of water quality testing and monitoring devices, maintenance of hoses, fittings and specialist vehicles.
  • In conjunction with Commissioning leadership team support the strategic growth of the commissioning service by refining the current processes to incorporate pressure testing and other service requirements.
  • During intermittent commissioning service down time, liaise directly with the Project Team to manage and deliver probe installations and maintenance monitoring providing essential assistance in the development of the service.
  • Some extended shifts including evenings and weekends will be required within working time regulations, In most cases this is planned however at times these are at short notice.
  • Line Management duties including ongoing teaching and mentoring, annual and mid-year appraisals, setting objectives and encouraging a positive work culture for your immediate team.

  • CSCS / SMSTS / SSSTS qualification

NETWORK ENGINEER

Description of the role:

This is a varied technical role, suited to someone who is looking to be valued in a smaller yet rapidly growing company and would seeking an opportunity to work across multiple projects for multiple client. The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting or acting on behalf of the Project Management Team to deliver key projects and contracts by providing specialist clean water knowledge of hydraulic principles and network modelling to the team.

This role would be ideally suited to a candidate who is able to troubleshoot network issues, spot anomalies and take ownership of resolutions and deliver actions when considering the project objectives.

There will be some need to undertake field-based activities and lead on complex network operations as well as overseeing and auditing the field teams daily tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Propose and support the development of pressure and flow management schemes and be able to present a cost benefit analysis of asset management schemes to the client
  • Review and analyse available sources of data to provide a concise and clear summary of findings, propose further investigations and solutions
  • Using GIS for clean water network mapping and tracing applications – understand and identify asset information, tracing of mains, district metered areas, permit to work info layer, identifying customer impact
  • Identifying anomalies within GIS, analyzing information and providing a logical solution to identifying and designing asset management solutions
