At Veriflo, we provide expert commissioning services to ensure clean water infrastructure is fully prepared for reliable and efficient operation. With a meticulous, process-driven approach, we manage every stage of commissioning to industry standards, delivering safe and compliant results.

Commissioning – pressure testing, swabbing, flushing and disinfection

Our commissioning service ensures new or refurbished pipelines are safely prepared for integration into the live network. We support pre-installation, to provide input to support successful commissioning.  Then, from post-installation through to water quality sampling, following industry standards for pressure testing and disinfection.

We perform hydrostatic pressure testing in compliance with WIS 4-01-03 and BS EN 805. For trunk mains, we deploy tracked swabs and use ultrasonic flow meters to monitor cleansing effectiveness. Disinfection is carried out using velocity-matched methods to minimise site time and maximise efficiency.

Key activities:

  • Pressure testing: independently verified tests for PE and rigid pipes.
  • Swabbing and flushing: controlled cleaning using tracked pigs and flow rate monitoring.
  • Disinfection: site-specific techniques matched to flushing velocities.
  • Sampling: water quality tests after stand time, delivered to approved labs.

Why it matters:

  • Confirms pipeline integrity and readiness.
  • Reduces contamination risk prior to live connection.
  • Supports compliance with water company and public health standards.

Reservoir outages and commissioning

Veriflo has extensive experience managing planned reservoir outages, providing end-to-end support from preparation to return-to-service. Our work includes site surveys, asset verification, drain downs, flow control, and staged re-fills with water quality monitoring throughout.

We plan around environmental considerations, stakeholder requirements, and operational risks. Each project is managed with detailed sequencing, safety controls, and tailored RAMS to suit the unique challenges of each site.

Key activities:

  • Site and asset inspections, assessing drain down methodology
  • Controlled drain downs. With dechlorination, where required, and any monitoring requested such as to meet discharge consents or agreements with sewer teams
  • Staged re-fills with sampling and turbidity checks
  • Stakeholder liaison and documentation for panel inspections

Why it matters:

  • Ensures safe, compliant reservoir operations
  • Minimises customer disruption and environmental impact
  • Provides confidence and assurance throughout, with clear communication, reporting and oversight
